WHAT MAKES KŌWHAI CLINIC DIFFERENT?
We are private specialist mental health services for those with mild to moderate mental health concerns. We focus on your mental health needs to enhance maintain and restore you to your optimal self. To do this we combine advanced assessment tools, diagnostics, medication prescribing, health improvement, talking therapies and evaluation.
HOW DO I BOOK?
Head to our contact/referral page to email and we will work out if Kōwhai Clinic is right for you, then a time that suits will be found. (Current availability is on Tuesdays)
WHERE DO I FIND YOU?
We are based beside downtown Wanaka, we will arrange to meet face to face in my discrete rooms. We can arrange telemedicine, where I send you a link to your private session, however it is preferable that we meet face to face for our initial assessment.
INITIAL ASSESSMENT VERSUS FULL ASSESSMENT AND REPORT
We can discuss which option suits best at your first appointment.
An initial assessment takes around 60-90 minutes with a letter to yourself and GP, this suits most. If you require a full clinical assessment with a written report, this takes longer before and after your appointement, with a file review (if files are available), full clinical assessment and a written report to yourself and your health provider.
WHAT DIAGNOSIS HAVE YOU TREATED?
Along with mental health difficulties, we also work with people with major mental health illnesses including, but not limited to; depression, anxiety disorders (including post traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, bipolar I and II, psychosis, schizophrenia, eating disorders, emotional dysregulation, situational crisis and sleep disorders.
DO I NEED TO HAVE A MENTAL ILLNESS TO WORK WITH YOU?
Not at all. We work with mental health in adults from 17 and over, walking alongside, navigate or guide your way from where you are now, to where you choose to be in your future.
DO YOU TREAT ADHD (ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER)?
We can work up an ADHD assessment and I work with people with an ADHD diagnosis, however a special authority for any stimulant medication would need to be authorised by consult with a consultant psychiatrist or paediatrician.
CANCELLATIONS, RESCHEDULING AND NO SHOWS
We ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice of cancellations or rescheduling, giving us time to fill this time.
Late cancellations, rescheduling or no shows will be charged 50% of the consultation fee.
PAYMENT
We ask that you pay for your appointment at or before your appointment time via bank transfer (details will provided). We kindly ask that any invoiced appointments are paid within seven days of receipt.
